In this Studies How-To guide, we will dive into the functionality of indicators, also referred to as Studies, and how to effectively use them on our platform.
Accessing Studies:
Start by clicking on the "Studies" menu. If you're searching for a specific study, click on 'Study Library' and type your desired indicator. For example, if you type "Bollinger", it shows all related results.Adding Studies:
To add studies to the chart, simply click on them. For instance, click on "Bollinger Bands", and the Study appears on the chart. When adding certain studies like "Moving Average", a pop-up appears where you can adjust the settings (like period and type).Favorites:
For frequently used studies, click on the star icon that appears next to each study in the library. This adds the study to your "Favorites" list for easy access in the future.Editing Study Settings:
Hover over a study in the chart until it gets bolder, then right click to edit settings. For instance, you might remove the fill from a Bollinger Band study for easier candle visibility.Distinguishing Studies:
For overlapping studies, head to the "Plots" area on the left side of the screen. This lists all the studies currently on the chart, allowing you to edit them separately to distinguish between them.'Show as Underlay':
This feature puts the studies under the candles on the chart, making the candles more visible. To activate, edit the study settings and check the 'Show as Underlay' box.Managing Study Location:
You can re-order your studies in the sub-region by using the up and down arrows. Maximize a study to fill the sub-region area, or drag studies on top of other studies for comparison. Be aware that different studies use different value scales.Deleting Studies:
To remove a study from the chart, you can either click the 'X' next to the study in the "Plots" area, right-click on the study in the chart and select "Delete", or use the 'Clear All' button in the "Active Studies" section of the "Studies" menu to remove all studies at once.Indicators on Indicators:
You can base a study on another indicator instead of the price information from a symbol. For example, you can set a Moving Average study to be based on RSI values. This feature allows complex analyses and can be accessed through the 'Field' variable when adding a study.Saving as a View:
Once you've customized your indicators and settings, you can save this setup as a 'View'. Name it (for example, "Indicators Cubed") and save. In the future, you can load this view without losing your setup.
