Subscribe to a Pre-Built Strategy

What this helps you do

This guide shows you how to subscribe to a Pre-Built Strategy so it becomes part of your workflow and starts sending you strategy alerts. It matters because subscribing is the step that turns an interesting idea on a list into an active model you can monitor and act on.

Before you subscribe

Subscribing works best when you already know the strategy fits how you like to trade.

If possible, start with:

  • Find Pre-Built Strategies to locate candidates that match your symbols and watchlists.
  • Evaluate a Strategy before Subscribing to check behavior on the chart and in the View Stats Panel.
  • How Strategy Profile Chart Works or Load, View, and Edit a Strategy if you like a deeper look at the profile and rules.
  • Once a strategy passes your checks, you are ready to subscribe.

    Subscribe from the Strategies tab

Use this method when you are browsing a list of strategies and want to add one or several at once.

Open the Strategies area from the Strategy Bar.

Make sure you are on the Community view so you can see Pre-Built Strategies.

Use the Stock Filter and Filter menu as needed to narrow the list.

In the table, click the checkbox next to any strategy you want to subscribe to. You can select one or multiple strategies at the same time.

A green action bar appears above the list. Click Subscribe.

The selected strategies will be added to your Subscriptions list. From this point on, they are treated as part of your personal radar and will be evaluated for alerts on each trading day.

    Subscribe from the Strategy Builder

Use this method when you are focused on a specific strategy, either one you opened from the list or one you created yourself.

Open the strategy inside Strategy Builder.

Look at the top right of the Builder for the Subscribe toggle.

Turn the toggle on so it appears green.

This subscribes you to the strategy that is currently loaded in the Builder. It will appear in your Subscriptions list just like a strategy you subscribed to from the main table.

Rename your subscribed strategy for clarity

After you subscribe, it helps to give the strategy a name that makes sense to you. This is especially useful when you subscribe to several versions of a strategy or when you are tracking both long and short ideas on the same stock.

    To rename a strategy:

  • Open the strategy in Strategy Builder.
  • Click the pencil icon next to the strategy name.
  • Enter a nickname that clearly describes what the strategy does, such as “AAPL PDC Long” or “TSLA Breakout Short.”
  • This nickname is only visible to you. The strategy keeps its original generic name for the rest of the community, so renaming it will not change how it appears for other traders.

Clear names make it much easier to read your Subscriptions list and to understand which strategy generated an alert, especially when you have both bullish and bearish versions.

Start with a manageable number of subscriptions

It can be tempting to subscribe to every interesting strategy you see, especially when you are first exploring the library. In practice, that usually leads to noisy alerts and Strategy Notification emails that are difficult to interpret.

As a rule of thumb, subscribe first to the small set of strategies you are actively testing in your trading plan. You can always add more later if you find that you have the bandwidth to track them. Keeping your subscription list focused will make your alerts easier to read and your decisions easier to make.

Check which strategies you are subscribed to

To see your active subscriptions in one place:

  • Open the Strategies area.
  • Switch from Community to Subscriptions.
  • This view shows only the strategies you are currently subscribed to. It is a helpful place to review your active models, check their status, and decide whether any of them should be retired from your workflow.

    What happens after you subscribe

Once you subscribe, the strategy is evaluated every trading day at the close, and the platform tracks its status as Starting, Active, Ending, or Inactive. When that status changes in a meaningful way, you will receive strategy alerts, both in app and by email, depending on your notification settings.

    You can use:

  • How Strategy Alerts Work to understand what each alert means and how daily evaluation ties back to the backtests.
  • Fit a Strategy into Your Daily Routine to see practical ways to use these alerts alongside chart context and other Opportunity Radars.
  • If a strategy stops fitting your style or goals, you can always reverse this process by clearing its checkbox and using the action bar in the Strategies area, or by turning off the Subscribe toggle in Strategy Builder.
